This lovely plate is a French oyster plate made in the late 1800s. The 6 shell wells have a delicate pink tint at the outer edges with a variegated grey/black to simulate the outer shell. The plate is centered with a round sauce well. The wells are imbedded in a aquamarine background. The plate is unmarked, but it is a form produced by the Haviland Company in a variety of color variations.

The plate has a small shallow chip on the edge, more to be felt then visually noticed. A factory flaw in the form of a dot can be seen on the edge of the sauce well. Rubbing on the gilt edging.
